SKYVA was an independent software company. Its main product was so advanced that an important research conference believed it was too advanced to be possible. SKYVA implemented the first known UML virtual machine and committed many other technological feats that put it on the (b)leading edge.
More than about technology, however, SKYVA was about the people. SKYVA had attracted a large number of highly qualified people: developers, consultants, documentation writers, and many others. While some left, most stayed, held together by friendship, mutual respect, and the occasional disagreement.
When SKYVA's new owner laid off 80% of the employees, we finally had to accept that the party was over.
